Solar Power 2008 FAQs

  • What are the actual dates of the conference and expo?

    The event officially kicks off the evening of Monday, October 13 with an opening reception. There are pre-conference workshops on Monday (10/13), but no conference sessions and the exhibit hall is not open. The conference and expo start on the morning of Tuesday, October 14 and go through mid-afternoon on Thursday, October 16. Go to the Detailed Agenda page of this site for more information.

  • Where is the event being held?

    Conference sessions will take place at the San Diego Convention, 111 West Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101.  The exhibits will be in Halls FGH.  Go the Travel Information page of this web site for directions.

  • Where should I stay?

    Go to the Hotels page of this website for a list of the hotels with special Solar Power 2008 discounts.

  • What airport should I fly into?

    The San Diego International Airport is the closest airport to San Diego, CA.  Please see the Travel page of this website for details about travel to and from San Diego, CA.

  • What is the cost of registration?

    Please see the Registration Information page of this website.

  • How can I get the discounted member rate?

    In order to receive the member discount rate, you must first join the Solar Energy Industries Association (national) or the Solar Electric Power Association. See www.seia.org and www.solarelectricpower.org for more information.

  • Is there a cost if I just want to attend the expo?

    The answer is no if you are a member of the general public and want to come on Wednesday night. The answer is yes if you have a business interest and want to come at any time other than Wednesday night.

    The Expo is open to the public and free on Wednesday, October 15 from 5:30 to 8:30pm. If you are a member of the public attending on Wednesday evening, you do not need to register in advance.

    Individuals interested in attending the Expo for business reasons may attend the Expo on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for a fee of $100 and are encouraged to register in advance.

  • What if I can only attend the conference for one day?

    You can register for a day pass by selecting “One Day Pass” as your registration type using the online registration system.

  • Can I attend the workshops without registering for the whole conference?

    You can register for specific workshops without registering for the conference or expo by selecting “Workshops Only” as your registration type using the online registration system.

  • Will you mail my name badge to me?

    If you live in the US and register by Sept. 5, 2008, we will mail your name badge to you. If you live outside the US and/or register less than 3 weeks before the event, you may pick up your badge from the conference registration desk in the San Diego Convention Center when you arrive.

  • What is the dress code for the event?

    Business or business casual attire should be worn throughout the conference; shorts, t-shirts, sneakers and sandals are not appropriate.
